Skin care is a constantly evolving field, and a good example here is recent advances made within the Juvederm family we’ve long offered at the med spa offices of Dr. Steven Jepson. We now carry multiple Juvederm options on top of our highly successful Juvederm Ultra treatment, each with particular specifics and benefits.
These two treatments are called Juvederm Voluma and Juvederm Volbella. How do these two types differ from Juvederm Ultra and each other, and how can you potentially benefit from each? Let’s take a look.
Juvederm Voluma is the only FDA-approved filler developed specifically for the cheek area. Made with Allergan’s proprietary Vycross technology, Juvederm Voluma is a smooth gel that flows easily and is consistent – it has great lift capacity to correct volume loss in the cheeks, commonly caused by aging.
Voluma contains the same hyaluronic acid that’s used in traditional Juvederm Ultra, but it’s a denser formula that’s designed to hold up even in a tough area like the cheeks. It also contains a small amount of lidocaine, which helps numb the area during treatment. Treatments are simple and painless, with limited tenderness or swelling side effects that generally last only a few weeks – compared with up to two years of support from the injections themselves. In some cases, people can inject Voluma into the temples for restoration purposes as well.
If Voluma is a thicker, denser version of the original, Volbella is on the other side of the spectrum. It’s a thin, gentle filler specifically designed for lip volume and contours. It comes with far less swelling than other lip fillers, with a natural look and feel that begins immediately and lasts for up to a year with a single treatment.
Again, Volbella is made from hyaluronic acid using Vycross technology, designed to fill the small lines that can form both above and below the lips. For those looking for the most subtle and natural look for the lips, Juvederm Volbella is the way to go.
