Choosing Botox or Laser Treatments for Skin Wrinkles
Modern technological and research advances have benefitted us in numerous ways, and personal services like anti-aging products and treatments are a great example. Where a generation or two ago you might have been limited to a single choice (or even none) for many of your most intrusive physical aging signs, today there are often several high-quality choices at your disposal.
At the offices of Steven Jepson MD, we’re proud to offer a wide variety of medical spa services that cater to your every anti-aging need. One of the most common areas our patients come to us for assistance with: Wrinkles, which are a perfect example of having a variety of treatment options. In particular, both Botox and various laser treatments can be used to smooth wrinkles on the face and other areas of the skin – but which is best for your particular situation? While this answer will always depend in part on a specific consultation with Genesis Lifestyle Medical and our staff where we go over your history and other factors, here are a few basic qualities of both services that might point you in one direction or the other.
Botox is not only the most well-known cosmetic product on the market today, it’s also still one of the most frequently used for a variety of purposes, including reducing wrinkles. Botox works by relaxing the muscles in the area being injected, softening their general appearance and allowing the skin to smooth itself out and limit wrinkles.
Botox can be used for a range of wrinkle types, from mild to moederates. It reduce your wrinkles for roughly three to four months, on average, and repeat visits can easily be scheduled to maintain results. In addition, Botox has become extremely affordable and usually doesn’t pose a major risk in the financial department.
For many kinds of fine to mild wrinkles, using one of several potential laser treatments might be the way to go. There are a few different options here, including our laser micro-peels that resurface the skin and reduce fine lines or wrinkles, leaving smooth and beautiful skin. Many such treatments will be spaced out over a few separate appointments to receive optimal results, and some will also do best with basic maintenance treatment a few times per year to keep results consistent and well-maintained.
Laser treatments vary in their cost based on the number required and the specific skin issues they’re helping to resolve. Speak to our staff to find out specifics here.
