Eat Your Way to Healthy Skin

Foods That Contain Water 

You can do more to get your daily requirement of water besides drink it. There are also foods and liquids that are good sources of water, including milk, fruits, vegetables and juice. Specific benefits of water for your skin include improving your blood flow to make your skin glow, keeping your skin well-moisturized and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Selenium 

Selenium is a mineral known to block cells that collect free radicals, which can lead to wrinkles and signs of premature aging. Sources of the mineral include button mushrooms, lamb, whole wheat pasta, shrimp and Brazil nuts. There are also several varieties of fish that are a great source of selenium, such as halibut, tuna, snapper and cod.

Antioxidants 

Besides getting plenty of selenium, there are other things you can do to keep free radicals from gaining a foothold in your body. Antioxidants help to both prevent and slow the actions of free radicals, and what’s great is they’re found in a number of foods. Be sure you eat plenty of apricots, berries, tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes and beans to beat free radicals.

Vitamin A 

While antioxidants and selenium are fighting free radicals, vitamin A can help repair the damage already done to your skin. In addition to treating flaky, dry skin, the vitamin can also improve the look of your brown spots and wrinkles. Good sources of vitamin A include cantaloupes, oranges, carrots, eggs and low-fat dairy foods.
