As a top medical spa in Salt Lake City, we at the offices of Steven Jepson MD are proud to offer numerous services, ranging from laser treatments to Botox and everything in between. We’re happy to be part of the growing popularity of the med spa around the country, for both men and women.
What is the difference between a medical spa like ours and a more traditional spa that you might go to for a manicure or pedicure? Let’s take a look, plus break down some treatments available at medical spas that you can’t generally get in a traditional setting.
Med Spa Versus Day Spa
The biggest difference between a med spa and a day spa is your ability to get various procedures done. Medical spas allow you to have certain procedures that cannot be done at traditional spas – things like Botox, tattoo removal, and various laser treatments.
Because these treatments require the specific overseeing of medical professionals, who are not present in a traditional spa experience, they cannot be done in these locations. Doctors may not directly perform every procedure at a medical spa, but all treatments are indeed performed under medical supervision.
Med Spa Treatments
The menu will vary based on the medical spa you’re attending, but you can usually find options down the following lines: Cosmetic injections such as Botox and Juvederm, aging skin rejuvenation with laser or chemical peels, tattoo removal, or body contouring. At many facilities, you’ll also find more traditional spa elements, such as wraps, facials and massage services.
For those who have excess fat in certain areas, the medical spa can be of assistance. Treatments like Kybella can help remove stubborn fat deposits in the chin area for example. These are once again services that you won’t be able to find in a day spa.
