Pre-Botox Questions: Patience, Research and More

Botox questions research patience

In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some important questions to be asking both yourself and your medical spa staff while considering Botox injections. Botox is a valuable treatment that has several potential applications, and ensuring you’re properly informed will allow you to optimize the benefits you get from it – or, in some cases, to realize that another treatment format might actually be better for you.

At the offices of Steven Jepson MD, we’re proud to offer a wide range of Botox injection services, along with other medical spa treatments like laser treatments, Juvederm dermal fillers and more. Here are a few of the other important areas we recommend inquiring about if this is your first time considering Botox treatments, including areas our staff will be happy to assist you with during this process.

Am I Patient Enough?

One important note, especially for those thinking of getting Botox in preparation for a specific event or appearance: Full results from Botox Cosmetic generally take 10-14 days to fully appear. If you’re preparing for some kind of event, then, the recommendation is to schedule your appointment at least this far in advance to ensure that the treatment has time to activate fully.

In unique cases where immediate effects are needed, Botox isn’t the way to go. Juvederm and other dermal fillers, however, do offer some immediate benefits and may help with static lines or facial volume, so if these are your need areas, Botox might not be your only option.

Have I Done My Research?

Another important theme for Botox services is doing your research and ensuring you’re receiving Botox injections only from an approved, board-certified medical professional like Genesis Lifestyle Medical. Sadly, there are some out there who attempt to rip off clients by posing as legitimate Botox or other medical spa solution providers, but in reality do not have the years of training and expertise required to confidently assist patients. Before receiving any new Botox or other services from any medical spa, do a detailed check on their qualifications, credibility and reputation.

Am I Committed Long-Term?

One other notable characteristic of Botox, along with many other similar treatments: These do not last forever, unfortunately. Botox is known to last for at least 12 weeks as long as it’s given by a quality provider like Genesis Lifestyle Medical, but those who want the long-term effects will have to return every few months for repeat treatments. If you’re comfortable with this simple time commitment every so often, Botox could be right for you.
