Understanding Maintenance Needs for Various Skin Treatments
Like many other areas of life, skin care is a pursuit that requires some diligence and commitment over a period of time. While there are a number of fantastic skin care products and treatments out there today, none of these are a magical elixir that can be used a single time to produce permanent skin results – rather, standard maintenance and upkeep of various treatments or products is the name of the game.
At the offices of Steven Jepson MD, this is a theme we prioritize heavily with our patients to bring them the best results, whether it’s through our Botox specials, Juvederm treatmetns, laser treatments or any of our other medical spa services. Let’s take a look at some basic requirements for treatment maintenance with both our laser treatments and our Botox services, plus inform you on the areas and frequencies you should be prioritizing for optimal results.
When it comes to laser treatments, the frequency and care with which you need to consider upkeep and secondary appointments will vary between specific methods. Here are some basics within our laser offerings:
Active FX Fractionated Laser: This is one of the rare treatments that requires just a single appointment in most cases, though you will need a week or so of social downtime afterward due to how aggressive it is. Maintenance treatments are usually spaced every 3-5 years
Photofacial: We recommend treatments spaced out every 3-4 weeks, with most patients requiring between three and five treatments.
Laser facial: Our QX Max Yag laser decreases pore size and limits congestion, with at least three treatments required, separated by about a month apiece. From here, we recommend once-quarterly treatments for maintenance.
Laser tattoo removal: This area will depend in large part on the specific tattoo and color(s) being removed. On average 8-12 treatments are required spaced every 6-8 weeks.
Botox is generally known to relax the muscles in the skin, but it is not a permanent treatment. In most cases, it retains a youthful appearance for between three to four months depending on the dose and your specific skin factors.
For this reason, those who want to maintain the best results will need to schedule regular future appointments. Many of our patients schedule their next visit as they’re completing the current one – once you’ve been through the cycle a couple times, you get a better idea of how soon the effects begin to wear off for you and can target the ideal range.
Comfort and Simplicity
No matter which of our treatments you’re looking for upkeep on, our constant goal is to provide a comfortable, safe location where these appointments are hassle-free and simple. We create a beautiful, relaxing medical spa environment for all our patients, with caring expert staff who will attend to your every need.
