For those dealing with lines, wrinkles or other obstacles to the youthful experience you’re looking for, Botox treatments might be perfect for you. Totally safe and used in the cosmetic world for 15-plus years, Botox can help relax the facial muscles and bring you a fresher appearance in your face.
At the offices of Dr. Steven Jepson MD, we can provide all the Botox services and tips you require. Our office is recognized as a Top 500 office by Allergan, an honor reserved for only the most experienced Botox providers in the country. So, what should you expect before, during and after a Botox procedure?
Whether you’re among the increasing number of 20- and 30-somethings looking to Botox, or you’re part of the more traditional groups aged above 40, the process begins with a consultation where we go over your desires for treatment and how you think Botox can help. This consultation is free.
During your consultation, you’ll be asked basic questions and given a facial analysis. We’ll then work directly with you to determine exactly which injections are needed and where they will go.
Once we’ve settled on a proper treatment and scheduled it, you won’t have to do anything else until that day comes. On the day of the treatment, though, you’ll have a few tasks ahead of you:
We will cleanse the treatment area and offer to apply a numbing cream.
You’ll be asked to make various facial expressions, some of which may seem strange. This is so Genesis Lifestyle Medical can identify and mark the specific areas where injections are needed, which can only be done by seeing how the face reacts to certain movements.
After this, small amounts of Botox will be injected into the muscles with a fine needle. The needle is very small and discomfort is minimal.
The entire procedure for Botox is short and simple, generally completed in minutes
Before sending you home after a Botox procedure, we’ll take the time to go over all post-procedure care areas with you in detail. These may include the following:
General timing: It tends to take about two days for Botox injections to start showing results, and you’ll notice peak results setting in within about 10-14 days.
Immediate care: For at least three to four hours following treatment, try to avoid touching, washing or rubbing the affected area. Any contact could spread the Botox medication to a different muscle group, which might impact the quality of your results. We ask that you do not lay down flat during this period of time
